Some 6th graders have been reading and sharing big books with us. Here are a few photos.
Learning the alphabet has been so much fun! We are learning the important skills and strategies that good readers use. Here are a few photos of us being good readers.
A is for Apple. The Kindergartners learned about Johnny Appleseed by watching a video, listening to books, and participating in a variety of hands-on activities. They loved singing, graphing, and especially sampling different types of apples. We made homemade applesauce with the apples we brought from home. Here are a few photos from our special "Apple Day."
Kindergarten Technology class focuses on basic computer skills. The Kindergartners have been learning how to start a computer, how to open a program, and how to shut a computer down. They have enjoyed using a program called "A to Zap" to work on alphabet skills. Here is a website that your child can use at home to review alphabet and early reading skills. www.starfall.com
Here is a fun video found on You Tube called "Elmo's Alphabet Rap." Click picture to view.

Fire Safety is so important. The Cresco Firefighters came to our classroom to teach us about fire prevention and fire safety. The highlight of their visit was seeing and going inside a real fire truck! Click here to see a few of the photos taken at school.
The Kindergartners' first attempt at our "Fall Walk" was rained out, but the rescheduled day ended up being a great day. The students loved being scientists spying for different Fall items. Thanks to the four moms who walked with us and helped make it extra special! Click here to see some of the things we saw and did on our "Fall Walk."
Our all school field trip to the Mississippi River Museum was fantastic! The Kindergartners loved everything about the trip. Some of their highlights were touching the shell fish, seeing the alligator & snakes, and crawling through the "bubbles" in the special lizards exhibit. The bus ride was pretty long, but we made it there and back home safely. A few of us (including myself) tried to take a short nap after the big event. We thank all of you parents and sponsors for making this trip such a great learning and fun experience. Click here to see some of the photos from this special day.
Halloween was a great chance for the Kindergartners to learn about pumpkins, interact with older students, and to enjoy the fun of the holiday. Click here to see photos from our party, singing at the nursing home, and how we explored pumpkins in our five centers.
